IGO Limited moves to low carbon emission aircraft with Cobham

Cobham last month signed a two-year contract extension and variation with leading ASX-listed exploration and mining company IGO Limited for fly-in fly-out (FIFO) services to its Nova nickel, copper and cobalt mine operation in Western Australia’s goldfields region, south-east of Kalgoorlie.

The contract variation supports a sustainable FIFO option utilising Cobham’s newest aircraft types: the Embraer E190 and the Bombardier Q400. These modern aircraft types offer improved fuel efficiency and low carbon emissions. They are renowned for their operational reliability and provide a comfortable and quiet passenger service with 2x2 seating.

IGO Limited’s Chief Operating Officer, Matt Dusci, said “Cobham are an outstanding and reliable partner for IGO, who have safely and efficiently supported our Nova operation since 2018. IGO has a strong focus on the sustainability of our operations and we are pleased that Cobham can offer aircraft that help support our continued drive to reduce carbon emissions.”

Cobham Regional Services Managing Director Dean Brennan said that Cobham recognised the importance of providing sustainable FIFO options for the resource sector.

“This commitment to using our lowest carbon emission aircraft demonstrates how serious IGO is about making a difference and achieving sustainable outcomes.”
