Cobham recognised for supporting local schools
In recognition of partnering with local schools and providing high quality work experience opportunities, Cobham Aviation Services was nominated for the Education Business Partnership (EBP) Investors in Education Awards. The company received an award from Elaine Lilley, Chief Executive of The EBP at the awards’ event at The Belton Woods Hotel near Grantham on 21 May 2015.
For the last five years Cobham employees at RAF Waddington have supported local schools and pupils by providing opportunities for a week’s work experience. The work experience program allows interested students to be involved with all aspects of the business, from administration to shop floor maintenance, with most pupils gravitating towards maintenance.
By providing these opportunities Cobham enables young adults to see aircraft maintenance first hand and potentially expand on interests they may already have. There is significant local interest in aviation due to the historically large number of airfields in the region.
