Cobham partners with Rotary Club on BlueSky initiative
Cobham has partnered with The Rotary Club of Crawley’s BlueSky initiative.
BlueSky provides an opportunity for people to explore regional Western Australia in an environmentally conscious way while supporting local communities and raising money for social impact projects. Cobham provides the aircraft and crew for these fundraising flights.
Our inaugural BlueSky flight took 98 passengers to Kalgoorlie on the weekend of 11 - 13 September 2020, contributing approximately $55,000 to small businesses in the Goldfields region of WA. BlueSky funds directly raised from this trip went to the St Johns Club of Menzies and a Rotary Club of Kalgoorlie initiative to fund research into male mental health.
Passengers on the Kalgoorlie trip were given many options to explore the Gold Fields region, including a day trip out to see the Sir Anthony Gormley statues at Lake Ballard, an indigenous tour led by local elders of the Karlkurla bush land and a town tour of Boulder-Kalgoorlie including the super pit – all activities supporting people and businesses in the region.
We are excited about our partnership with BlueSky, and relish the opportunity to not only be involved in an initiative that raises funds for charities, but also provides a large injection of cash into the many communities around regional Western Australia: a region we work closely in and are passionate about.
Our next destination with BlueSky is Broome in February 2021, to coincide with the must-attend Broome Pride event. Demand was so incredible that the flight sold out within a week! And plans are underway for an incredible long weekend package in WA’s Kununurra region.
We look forward to continuing our partnership with BlueSky in 2021.
