Cobham fifth Q400 arrives

Cobham continues fleet renewal, takes delivery of fifth Q400

PERTH, Australia – On Friday 16 April, Cobham took delivery of its fifth Bombardier Q400 aircraft as it continues its fleet renewal program of aircraft servicing the FIFO market. This latest Q400 travelled more than 22,780 kilometres from North Bay, Canada to touch down in Perth last Friday.

The 76-seat Q400 Q Series is the world’s most modern turboprop, enhancing operational reliability, reducing maintenance time and providing a comfortable passenger service with 2x2 seating. It also burns 50% less fuel than other aircraft operating in the FIFO market.

Cobham Regional Services Managing Director Dean Brennan said that the company’s fleet renewal program introducing Q400 and E190 aircraft was on track with plans to add additional Q400s to its fleet later this year.

“We are matching our clients’ emphasis on embracing the most novel technology with reduced carbon footprint, to ensure we are as future ready as the mine sites we service.”

“The benefits of the Q400’s jet-like speed, highly efficient fuel consumption and low carbon emissions have been recognised by clients that have transitioned to the new aircraft type.”

“We look forward to the inaugural flight of our latest Q400 later this month, flying for Westgold Resources to its Cue Gold operations in the Central Murchison region of WA, and to the ongoing investment in our fleet renewal program throughout the remainder of 2021 and beyond”.
