Cobham Aviation Services launches Reconciliation Action Plan

Cobham Aviation Services has launched its ‘Reflect’ Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), an important step to formalise its reconciliation journey, which aims to support the development of respectful relationships and meaningful opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

“Our RAP outlines a strong framework of specific initiatives and actions that Cobham will pursue over the next year to better engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders as well as improve the awareness and understanding of the culture, customs, history and achievements of our land’s traditional owners,” Cobham CEO John Boag said.

Cobham has already taken some small steps to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders.

“In 2020, we began a partnership with Yalari, a not-for-profit organisation that offers quality, secondary education scholarships at leading Australian boarding schools for Indigenous children from regional, rural and remote communities.

“We are sponsoring two children from Western Australia for their secondary education and we have hosted a number of intern placements to provide on the job learning opportunities.”

“We are also a member of Supply Nation, an organisation focused on connecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses with corporate Australia.”

“Our ‘Reflect’ RAP formalises our commitment and over the coming years, our aim is to enrich diversification and cultural inclusivity at Cobham by improving engagement with Indigenous people, enterprises and communities,” Mr Boag said.
