B2 LAME IOT – Perth

We are accepting applications for multiple Deployment Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineers with either DHC 8 B1 or B2 Type rating. We will also consider suitable AMEs, and non-type rated LAMES and provide a Dash 8 Type course for the selected engineers.

The Role

We are accepting applications for multiple Deployment Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineers with either DHC 8 B1 or B2 Type rating. We will also consider suitable AMEs, and non-type rated LAMES and provide a Dash 8 Type course for the selected engineers.

These positions deploy from Perth to Christmas and Cocos Islands in support of Cobham’s contract with Australian Border Force (ABF).

During deployment, the role will operate initially on a nominal 22 days on/18 days off roster, with 2 days rostered off on the islands during deployment. All flights and accommodation whilst on deployment will be covered by the company. – The roster will be drafted to align with the RPT service ex Perth.


Key Responsibilities

• Conduct aircraft maintenance and certify for this in accordance with our Cobham Special Mission Engineering MOE and approved procedures
• Travel on aircraft as flying spanner when required
• Ensure efficient and effective use of time on shift to complete all assigned tasks
• Work in a remote Line Maintenance environment
• Audit of completed aircraft maintenance certification to ensure compliance
• Ensure all work carried out is in accordance with approved maintenance manual and Cobham approved procedures
• Ensure safety of work processes, plant and equipment and maintain safe work environment
• Hold Safety as a core value and contribute to the achievement of a Zero Harm and an incident / injury free environment through active participation in all safety programs relevant to the position.


Skills and Experience

Essential

• Hold a B1 or B2 DHC-8 Licence
• Alternatively, be able to sit a Type course and POC to gain a DHC 8 rating
• Possess substantive Line Maintenance experience
• Due to quarantine restrictions, candidates must currently reside in or be prepared to relocate to Perth WA for the duration of the contract
• Be willing and able to work the deployment roster
• Possess analytical and problem-solving skills
• Have strong communication and troubleshooting skills
• Proven ability to work in a team environment
• Demonstrated time management and organisational skills
• Medically fit and able to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the role

Desirable

• Additional Licence Types on CL604 would be advantageous

About the role

  • Ensuring compliance with the Civil Aviation Law for ground operations activities

  • Assisting in the establishment of current and long-term training goals, objectives, plans and policies
  • Reviewing, developing, writing, and maintaining ground operations manuals and related documents
  • Ensuring all staff records are kept up to date including training, records, reports, qualifications, and systems

About you

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all cargo, including special freight, is compliant for carriage as per regulations, specifications and procedures
  • Compiles cargo paperwork such as manifests and NOTOCs and ensures adequate records are maintained for each flight

  • Manages inbound freight and document collection

Experience and Qualification Requirements

Essential

  • Australian Citizenship and hold or be eligible to hold an Australian passport

Head of Training and Checking – Perth

The HOTC is responsible for the conduct, either personally or by delegation to subordinate managers, consultant, or contractors.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

As the principal training and technical advisor to the HOFO and the MDRS, this senior role is a key member of the Flight Operations Department Management Team. In accordance with Section 28 of the Civil Aviation Act 1998 and approved by CASA legislation, you will lead and manage the aircrew training division and be responsible for the efficient and cost-effective training of crew to best meet the needs of the business.

As a leader and strong communicator, you will have the capacity to represent the Flight Operations Training and Checking Department at both departmental and board level, as well, represent the aircrew training section and, when appropriate the Operations Department and/or Company with the regulatory authorities, Government agencies, client, service providers and the public.

As a key member of the Management team, this position is subject to the statutory medical standards relevant to active professional pilots and requires a mixture of aircraft and office working hours.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The HOTC is responsible for the conduct, either personally or by delegation to subordinate managers, consultant, or contractors, of the following duties:

  • Manage the Company Training and Checking organisation, functions and oversight of any training and checking contracts in accordance with legislative requirements and report on the adequacy of management to the HOFO.
  • Hold safety as a core value and contribute to the achievement of zero harm and an incident/injury free environment through actively participating in all safety programs relevant to the position.
  • Act as the principal technical adviser to the HOFO and MDRS and assist in the development of flight operating policies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant civil aviation law for pilot training activities, qualifications, and checking.

  • Undertake positive safety activities as allocated by the MDRS.
  • Plan, organise, lead and control daily operation of the aircrew training section through the respective Fleet Managers and Cabin Crew Training Managers.
  • Ensure all operating crew meet the competency test requirements for the execution of emergency procedures as required.
  • Ensure that crew members employed by the company undertake the training courses at the interval specified in the Regulations.
  • Co-ordinate the activities of the pilot and cabin crew training section with those of the Ground Operations Maintenance Control, and Flight Operations Department managers.
  • Ensure compliance with the contracted levels of simulator support and externally provided training activities for pilots, including minimum guaranteed performance and certification.
  • Monitors and approves (under delegation) invoices for fleet simulator use within authorised budgets.
  • Establish current and long range training goals, objectives, plans and policies for the Flight Operations Department.
  • Liaise with the HOFO and, where appropriate, other department managers to investigate any safety related issue and recommend the implementation of corrective actions and procedures.
  • Manage and maintain the aircrew training section to ensure that the section employs and trains sufficient personnel to achieve corporate and business objectives, including appropriate succession and contingency planning.
  • Review operating results of the aircrew training sections, compare them to establish objectives, and take steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.
  • Develop and maintain a system of internal reporting and that supports Company financial performance modelling and data of aircrew training activities.
  • Ensure accurate and timely compliance by training personnel with all required training data recording and administrative procedures.
  • Ensure that all aircrew training activities will not, where possible, interfere with the contract obligation to the client.
  • Ensure that the aircrew training sections actively participates in the Company safety and quality activities and pursues a goal of cost-effective continuous improvement.
  • Advise, and where appropriate, participate in negotiating changes in workplace industry arrangements to optimise staff productivity and assisting HOFO to achieve the personnel and industrial relations goals.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication at all levels with other company business units.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

To be considered for this position with Cobham, we require the below as mandatory pre-requisites:

  • Have experience in management of flight crew training, preferably for high capacity air transport jet operations, in accordance with the requirement of CAO82.5 Appendix 2
  • Have demonstrated high level understanding of all of the essential operational and infrastructure requirement to conduct the company’s operations.
  • Have demonstrable leadership and interpersonal skills commensurate with the position.
  • Have capacity to represent the Flight Operations Training and Checking Department at Departmental and Board level.

  • Meets the minimum experience requirements specified in the CAO 82.5 Appendix 2
  • Maintain check pilot proficiency on at least one type of aircraft and simulator operated by the company.

Heavy Maintenance Planner – Perth

The Role

The Maintenance Planner reports to Airworthiness Technical Manager and is responsible for the planning and scheduling of Heavy/Line maintenance events. Organize maintenance work packages, including identifying and ordering parts, materials, and equipment required.

The Role

We currently have an opportunity for a Technical Services Engineer to work with domain specialists and maintenance providers nationally to maximise Special Mission fleet performance, providing troubleshooting advice and oversight of defect management on the aircraft mission systems. GSE Controller – Perth

A GSE Controller is responsible to the GSE Supervisor for the oversight, control, and compliance of Cobham - Regional Services tooling and Ground Support Equipment (GSE). • Be responsible for and monitor general condition, up keep and housekeeping of GSE Store facilities, equipment and any applicable vehicles are maintained and controlled in accordance with procedures and are left in a clean and satisfactory condition;
• Ensure conformance to the FRMS;

  • Previous experience in warehousing, ideally within the aviation industry
  • The ability to hold and maintain a current forklift licence
  • The ability to hold and maintain a Dangerous Goods by Air – Acceptance certificate
  • Proficiency using large-scale ERP or warehousing software (e.g. – RAMCO, SAP, Navision, Oracle or similar)
  • Experience working within a quality assurance or regulatory environment, where strong attention to detail and compliance skills have been demonstrated

AME Avionics – Adelaide

For the Line Maintenance positions it is preferred that the successful person has a Q400 rating.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform aircraft maintenance and relevant tasks in accordance with safety and operational standards
  • Provide instruction and monitor workflow and quality of work being conducted by AMEs
  • Assist and support apprentices when required.
  • Ensure the safety of passengers and crew, through diligent application of work processes
  • Maintain plant, equipment, components and materials are maintained and serviceable
  • Perform any other reasonable duties, as required by the business


Skills and Experience

  • Experienced LAME with either Dash 8 Classic, Q400, BAE 146 or CL604 Type rating preferred.
  • Training will be supplied for LAMEs that are successful who are not type rated on these types.
  • Hold or have the ability to obtain an airside drivers license
  • Possession of, or eligibility for an ASIC

• Ensure efficient and effective use of time on shift to complete all assigned tasks
• Work in a Line Maintenance environment
• Ensure safety of work processes, plant and equipment and maintain safe work environment

Skills and Experience

Essential
• Experienced AME or LAME with basics completed and able to complete DHC 8 Type course

NDT Technician Trainee – Adelaide

An NDT Technician is a certifying employee responsible for the certification of specialist maintenance on behalf of Engineering.

Cobham Aviation Services has a vacancy for an NDT Technician. To fill this position Cobham are looking for a candidate with Heavy Maintenance, Structures/Airframe experience who will be trained to carry out this role to support its aviation maintenance business. This pivotal role will be supported by the resident NDT Technician and will finally be reporting to the Maintenance Manager (MM) Adelaide for the performance and completion of requested NDT specialist maintenance once trained. An NDT Technician is a certifying employee responsible for the certification of specialist maintenance on behalf of Engineering. The successful applicant will be trained at level 2 in Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic particle, Eddy Current, Ultrasonics and Radiography to EN4179, AS3669.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all Specialist Maintenance, documentation and certification is carried out and completed in accordance with the MOE, Procedures Manuals and responsible CAMO requirements
  • Maintain annual visual acuity and colour perception test requirements in accordance with EN4179
  • Knowledge and skills to use any specialised equipment required to carry out NDT and inspections
  • Ensure calibration, inspection, maintenance and repair of NDT Tooling and equipment is carried out
  • Responsible for personal and company tool control, compliance and accountability
  • Report any defect identified in the performance of NDT
  • Support apprentices when required
  • Compliance with Engineering WHSMS policy and procedures

Requirements:
